To improve the standard of living and future prospects of the younger generation, Matahari ("the Company"; stock code: "LPPF") renovated ten school libraries throughout Indonesia. Through this CSR program worth up to Rp 906 million, Matahari is committed to renovating elementary school libraries in ten areas where Matahari operates in several major cities, namely Tangerang, Singkawang, Palu, Kupang, Jakarta, Bogor, Palembang, Semarang, Medan, and Malang. In collaboration with BenihBaik.com, the inauguration of the first school library renovation was held at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kademangan 02, Tangerang, Banten today.
“Matahari believes that education is essential to uplifting people’s lives and eradicating poverty. We are committed to creating an ecosystem where Indonesian children can grow up healthy and feel secure about their future. We, at Matahari, will live our values and give back to the nation through these children,” said Terry O’Connor, CEO of Matahari.
"Indonesia still has a low level of interest in reading due to lack of access and unequal access to educational facilities. Because we believe that human character development begins at school, we are pleased that Matahari shares our concern and supports the renovation of the school library at SDN 02 Kademangan as a good start. BenihBaik.com is very enthusiastic about collaborating with Matahari to renovate five other school libraries in the next few months," said Andy F Noya, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BenihBaik.com.
"We would like to thank Matahari and BenihBaik.com for renovating the school library at SDN 02 Kademangan. Through this collaboration, we hope that the interest in reading children's books here can increase. Building a school library is a must if there is a desire to improve the quality of students, teachers, schools, and even the quality of the nation because the school library is a window to world knowledge," said Artiah, Principal of SDN Kademangan 02.
Terry added, "The renovation of this library aims to make children enjoy a more colorful atmosphere, have an interest and love reading. We are very excited to improve children's literacy in other school libraries in the next nine regions in Indonesia."
The Company is also collaborating with GNOTA (National Foster Parent Movement) for one city and Wahana Visi Indonesia for three other cities, which have proven experience and expertise in this field, in renovating other school libraries in 2023. This program reflects an extension of Matahari's national brand campaign.
Matahari also participates in the annual clothing donation program held by Lentera Bangsa Bagi (LBB), an organization that focuses on raising funds to provide education for children in need throughout Indonesia.
As a leading children's clothing retailer in Indonesia, the next generation will always be a top concern in Matahari's various CSR initiatives.
